What is ground school?

Private pilot license ground school is the earliest step in a pilots training program. This is an important step because it involves learning the theories behind flying and its implications. While we know how ready you are to get up into the air there are some core lessons that we must learn first. We have broken these down into five main sections, but there are thirteen topics in total that you will learn while attending Executive Flight Academy.

Navigations

Staying on track and on route for your destination is crucial while flying. Pilots navigate using advanced compasses and GPS to navigate the skies. We will teach you how to keep your course, and end up at your destination safely and in a timely manner.

Communications

Learning how to communicate using your radio is essential in being able to communicate with other pilots and air traffic control. Not only will you learn the technologies you will learn how to speak like a pilot with special terms used to communicate.

Flight Planning

Flight planning begins before you ever leave the ground. Doing routine pre-flight checks, weather analysis, and navigational check-ups is crucial for being safe and flying efficiently.

Aeronautics

There is much to learn about in aeronautics while in flight school Some of the topics covered will be the knowledge of aerodynamics, aircraft systems, and the engine and powerplants. We will also cover decision making while you are in the air.

Weather Systems

We will go beyond the basics of weather systems and the impact that they have on flight. We will give you comprehensive training going over different weather patterns, forecasting, and how to handle situations if you are caught in bad weather.
